This project will develop new disease resistant varieties of dogwood (Cornus florida) with commercial characteristics to provide North Carolina producers with a competitive advantage. Traditional breeding methods will be combined with tissue culture protocols for rapid micropropagation and development of polyploidy lines to develop novel traits ideally suited for production in North Carolina.
