Library Offers Data Discounts

Bioscience companies throughout North Carolina can get reduced-price Internet access to science and business information, thanks to contract pricing arranged by the information specialists at the North Carolina Biotechnology Center library.

The service, especially useful to emerging companies around the state that have limited budgets, includes:

Business Insights market research reports - Companies with 20 or fewer employees can have remote access to these reports for only $1000. Buying all reports in this database could cost about $500,000 at list price. This subscription, which runs through August 5, includes hundreds of reports in these sectors:

  • Healthcare
  • Diagnostics
  • Drug Discovery
  • Pharmaceutical Outsourcing
  • Consumer Goods
  • Energy

Go to the library's Web site for more details, and to download the interest form. Companies with more than 20 employees are welcome to use these reports in person at the library.

Elsevier ScienceDirect and other databases - This leading publisher of health and science information offers its ScienceDirect journals database, e-books database, and Scopus citation database at reduced rates through the library's consortium. Though it's too late to sign up for a subscription starting January 1, it's not too late to start a subscription soon after, in early 2010.

Personalized research help and many other information resources are also available at the library, by visiting in person, by e-mail at library@ncbiotech.org, or by phone at 919-549-8880.
