And why is the Biotechnology Center using it?
Twitter is a Web service that lets people share 140-character updates with others. It's text messaging with wider dissemination.
These small bits of information can be really useful when you're on the go, or when e-mail comes in faster than you can read it.
So we chose the Biotech 2009 conference as a testing ground. Help us make it work:
- If you have a Twitter account, mark your conference updates with #biotech09. We'll feed the updates to our booth.
- Subscribe to @ncbiotech updates, or feed the search results for #biotech09 to your mobile device.
- Sign up for a Twitter account. Contact Robin Deacle (@robindeacle) at 919-549-8824 for help. And start tweeting!
Oh, and if 140 characters seems really short, each paragraph or bullet item on this page meets the criteria. You can do it too!
