The Biotechnology Center's grant programs are designed to foster collaboration between and among researchers, educators and businesses to leverage larger financial awards.

In support of the Biotechnology Center's new Agriculture-Biotechnology Initiative, we encourage submissions that have an Ag-biotech focus for all of our research and economic development grant programs.

Research Grants

Biotechnology Research

Supports investigators at universities and non-profit institutions.
Preproposals are required.

Collaborative Funding Supports a post-doctoral fellow or technician in a university research laboratory.
Partnerships with for-profit companies will compete better in this program.

Oliver Smithies Faculty Recruitment

Assists with the recruitment of top scientific talent to regional universities.

Provides core equipment that will be used by multiple faculty members.

Multidisciplinary Research Encourages at least three North Carolina scientists from different disciplines to collaborate.
