Strategic Partnering Support
Many of our early-stage companies will ultimately achieve their business goals through partnerships with existing global industry leaders through research collaborations, co-development deals, licensing or merger & acquisition. NCBiotech actively connects North Carolina-based companies and universities with “buy-side” life sciences corporations (e.g., multi-national pharma, biotech, medical device and animal health companies, investors, and foundations) seeking to strengthen their product pipelines and portfolios.
We engage with corporate technology scouts to understand their strategic partnering interests, and provide them with detailed information on NC-based companies and academic researchers that fit that profile. We then host private meetings between invited NC companies/researchers and the visiting scouting teams.
To date, we have delivered partnering projects for 43 corporations and investors, which have led to over 160 private meetings with representatives of Abbott Labs, AbbVie, AbbVie Ventures, Boehringer Ingelheim, BI Ventures, Celgene, Daiichi Sankyo, Elanco, Eli Lilly, JDRF, Johnson & Johnson, LabCorp, Lilly Ventures, NCI, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, Pfizer, Sanofi, Sinopharm, and ThirdRock Ventures.
Annual Partnering Event
NCBiotech hosts an annual partnering event at the CED Life Science Conference that brings together NC-based life science companies with global industry leaders. Partnering 2015 participants included Amgen, Merz, JDRF, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, GSK, J.P. Morgan, Rex Health Ventures and various university tech transfer offices among others.
