Pharmaceutically-Driven Addition of Biotechnology Course at Pitt Community College
The Associate in Applied Science in Biotechnology program at Pitt Community College (PCC) is designed to meet the increasing demand for laboratory technicians in eastern North Carolina. The program strives to provide training in three distinct fields: academic research, instrumentation technology and quality control/ assurance. The program typically graduates approximately 20 students per year, with on average 85% of the graduates entering pharmaceutical work upon graduation. However, students are afforded minimal experiences with the analytical techniques common to the pharmaceutical industry through coursework in the current curriculum.
