In an effort to better educate our students by exposing them to modern methods of chemical synthesis, purification, and characterization, this project aims to acquire modern instrumentation to be used in the Organic Chemistry laboratory. The renovation of the Organic Chemistry I and II curricula made possible by industry-grade instruments at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP) will provide students with the best training possible. Over the course of a summer and one academic year, the curriculum for the Organic Chemistry I and II courses will be redesigned in order to incorporate the use of modern synthesis, purification, and/or spectroscopic analysis methods into each of the experiments which students conduct.
