Funds are requested for purchase of a MiSeq Personal Sequencing System from Illumina. This compact and economical system has a wide range of sequencing applications; it will be used to study genes in a number of human diseases, including MS, cardiovascular disease, and glaucoma. This new system will be complementary to the existing service, augmenting the available DNA sequencing capabilities at Duke significantly and covering new areas that are currently lacking.
