Working in the university's optical tweezers laboratory, the student will utilize this equipment to synthesize collagen networks, which play a critical role in wound healing, aging, and pre-term labor. She will then characterize the structures of these collagen networks under different conditions using light and scanning electron microscopy; and obtain signature spectra using Raman spectroscopy.
