14th Annual Neuroscience Research Day
The Annual Neuroscience Symposium has been used to bring together the entire neuroscience research community at East Carolina University, which is spread out over many departments and campus locations. Students are encouraged to submit abstracts for presentations, members of the faculty from different departments are invited to give talks, and there is a general sharing of ongoing research and ideas for more research. The meeting has been used as an opportunity to bring in highly respected speakers to share ideas especially with the students who are developing careers. Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders are a major concern as the population of this area ages and there remains no effective preventive treatments.
