Inside View: You too can go viral

407 in 36 hours.

It's the number of times that people viewed our "Digging Deeper: Research Tips for your Job Search" presentation on Slide Share. One of our research librarians, Karin Shank, and web developer, Boriana Ditcheva, had no idea their content would be so relevant.

But let's start this story at the beginning.

On November 29, Karin and Boriana presented to the NCBiotech Jobs Network. This group of life-science professionals and hiring managers meets monthly at the Biotech Center. So far, they've gotten resume advice, crafted an elevator speech, and built their job search network.

It was standing room only in the Congressional Room, and more than 70 attendees kept the question and answer session lively. Everyone left with some great tips on using research tools to find a job.

Karin went back to her desk and uploaded  her slides to SlideShare, thinking only the attendees would find them useful. But within the hour, the ticker topped 100 views. The next morning, the slides were "Hot on LinkedIn." And approximately 36 hours after posting, SlideShare recorded more than  400 downloads.

Not quite Gangnam Style. But it is rock star status in the biotech world.
