NC Firms in SE Venture Picks

Two young North Carolina bioscience-related companies are among the first 26 emerging technology firms chosen to give presentations to the Southeastern venture capital community next month.

The fourth annual Southeast Venture Conference, to be held February 24 and 25 at the Ritz Carlton in Tysons Corner, Virginia, will showcase some 60 promising technology firms from throughout the region. That's nearly twice the number participating in previous years.

One of the picks is Advanced Liquid Logic, a fast-growing Research Triangle Park firm that has been boosted with $395,500 in loans from the North Carolina Biotechnology Center.

Also among the seven North Carolina companies chosen so far is:

A Charlotte-area nanotechnology firm, Blue Nano, of Huntersville, is also among the picks.

Companies from North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Washington, D.C. are being picked to present six-minute overviews to some of the expected 800 attendees representing all aspects of the technology start-up process--including representatives of firms managing more than $60 billion in private-equity capital.

The presenting companies range from late-stage firms nearing initial public offerings of stock to earlier-stage high-growth firms developing a variety of technologies.
